Local content is a set of legal and regulatory requirements designed to ensure that oil and gas companies operating in Côte d’Ivoire integrate local content into their production and structuring processes, in terms of staff recruitment, use of service providers and suppliers of goods, and technology transfer.

The decree (N°2023-441 of May 24, 2023) implementing the law (N°2022-403 of June 13, 2022) on local content in oil and gas activities was published in the Journal Officiel de la République de Côte d’Ivoire on July 24, 2023.

As a result, the provisions of the aforementioned decree on local content in oil and gas activities in Côte d’Ivoire have been in full force since July 28, 2023, and are applicable to all companies operating in the oil and gas sector.

In order to inform and raise awareness among staff likely to work with service providers on the measures imposed by the local content law, FOXTROT International’s legal department conducted an initial information session on the subject on Friday October 1 at the Tiama Hotel with 30 participants.

The seminar, which will be followed by two more in the coming weeks, was presented by Mr. Missa Stéphane, Deputy Director of Legal and Tax Affairs, and Ms. Dakouri Gisèle, Legal Officer, both from the company.
